Title: Don't be fooled
Description: Islam

There are those even in this country that continue to peddle the nonsense that Islam is a religion of peace. Muhammed spread his religion through murder, rape and slavery of blacks. It continues today.

I'm not muslim but to me every religions are misinterpret.
And don't forget that, religious book: the bible, the qur'an...were written by men.
So, even though some of them were inspired by the holy spirit (God), men may have change things in favor of them. for instance, if you see the condition of women (in nearly every religion) she has to serve her husband...
All i wanna say is : Don't follow what they show you on TV. Sometimes, Media just want to create Hate against eachother.
I don't know if i express myself propely but that's the way i think.

Well, I already ranted in the thread about legalizing rape. I really dont have a very high opinion of men. Mort acuratly, men like these people. Seriously, I would last not even 5 minets in a country like that. It seems even having an opinion of your own will get you beat up or shunned in society. A woman speaks her mind, shes called a bitch. A man speaks his mind, hes the fucking bomb. Wemon should be exactly equal to men in every way and that should just be the way it is. But its not. And it makes me sick to my stomach to see potentualy strong weman shot down by sexist pigs....
Ok, I really shouldn't say anymore. I might just get out of hand.

People like those men should be crucified or burnt alive, in my opinion anyway.

Robert,
I don't have any love for people who criminalize the stupidest of things, such as wearing pants or T-Shirts, or going outside without headscarves or male companions and such crap as we find in some eastern societies. Don't get me wrong on that. I also have no love for people who throw the boomrang of idiocy around and criminalize the stupidest of things, such as wearing headscarves or beards or praying in public and such crap as we find in some Western societies. Don't get me wrong on that.
Unfortunately, of course, as a muslim and a muslim woman, I have to immediately take umbrage with your conclusion that Islam is a religion of hatred and that Muhammad (saws) was one of the sort of sick people we find hanging around these days pretending to be real folk. Yes, of course I have to take umbrage with that because Muhammad (saws) is my spiritual guide, and HOPEFULLY I know more about who he was than you, dear Robert, who are apparently satisfied to judge the foundation of an entire religion on information dispensed to you from the tissue box of American "Liberal" Media, as do so many other Westerners and other non-muslims...and I'm not hating on you for that because I understand where you are coming from exactly. How many times have I wanted to accuse all of Christianity of being insane, racist, greedy totalitarian psychopaths based on the actions of the few I see that happen to affiliate themselves with Christ. What I've come to realize is that there are a lot MORE people in the world, who also affiliate themselves with Christ, and who are not like those others. They have either enlightened themselves into realizing that God and Jesus (als) are far beyond that stuff or they have simply fallen out with the whole media thing, so they don't care to take part in categorizing and generalizing people on account of religion or race anymore. For every ignorant person living, there is at least ONE who endeavors to be enlightened.
You know what really woke me up about this religious/political stuff though? I got sick of Stupidity, and thus, here begins my short essay: On Stupidity -- A Cult Worse Than Religion.
My hatred of stupidity began with a great, lingering sickness that I haven't quite gotten over yet to this day. I kept getting sick when I heard stories like the one at the link that sounded like really, REALLY bad episodes of Touched By An Angel or something. I got sick when I heard dumb stories about Priest so-and-so back 200AD who didn't like Imam whatshisfaces's hat and decided to start a war to wipe out everyone who wore hats like Imam whatshisface--and vice versa. I got REALLY sick of hearing "My God is better than your God" or "Your religious leader was a facist psycho and mine is the leader of the kingdom of heaven" or "Why you wearing that? Ain't you hot? You're MARRIED aren't you? You DO know you're in AMERICA, right? You're not free to wear that shit over here." (I'm not paraphrasing, I've actually been told that) Stupity Exhibits A-E.
I got sick of arguing with Muslim guys who think it's okay to beat their wives because Muhammad (saws) did. But wait a second--, "Brother, where did you get that shit?" "My Imam." "Where did your Imam get it?" "He's my Imam. And he's a man, so he automatically knows more than you." "Your imam ain't divine, Brother. And if you'd thumb through Islam's Good Book, you'll notice God certainly said NO such thing. So WHY would Muhammad (saws) say that if God didn't? That's blasphemy, Broham." "Go to hell, Sister. All women are, anyway. My Imam said so." And since Muhammad (saws) isn't around to tell him God did in fact NOT say that beating women into a smooth pulp is okay OR that all women are going to hell, the guy is going to listen to his Imam because he comes from a culture where whatever a man says goes, regardless of his religiousness. Stupidity Exhibit F.
I got sick of arguing with KKK people who think that all black people will be going to hell (or some separate black heaven) because obviously Jesus (als) was White, and Black people were some kind of horrendous accident in Creation. Jesus (als) isn't around to put the guy in his place and say "God never said that, you stupid idiot!", so the guy will continue to be interpret his religion the way he sees fit because like the other guy, he is imperfect, irrational, and will never understand what it feels like to have a free mind because he has been mentally boxed into a state of weak-mindedness from infancy to adulthood. Stupidity Exhibit G.
Please keep in mind that I do not intend to offend anyone with any of this. Don't make the mistake of taking any of it personally, I'm generalizing because I am just that sick of the fountain "blame it on religion" detritus I keep hearing around. Men need to take responsibility for their own stupid and keep my God out of it.
Meanwhile, you'd think that as sick as I get, I'd be popping more pills than a model before the flight to Milan. :P
Now to conclude: Do you guys know what would happen if the people carrying out these ridiculous "religious" edicts and political "tactics" weren't part of some religious order? You know what they would do with their free time? Those people would be doing the EXACT. SAME. THING THEY ARE DOING TODAY. EVERY. DAMN. DAY. REGARDLESS. They would find something ELSE to complain about and some other "group" to colonize or subjugate or discriminate against because that's the way people always have been and always will be.
Like the cockroach, ignorance, war, sexism, reality television and other varieties of human stupidity will probably be around forever and will probably evolve into even more forms than it already comes in. All we can really do is let it roll off of us like water. We are islands unto ourselves. All that stuff doesn't matter--we can't change it. Unfortunately, again like the cockroach, we just live here on Earth. Just keep going against the grain, don't let anyone step on you and continue learning as much you can about absolutely EVERYTHING. Knowledge is power. If we don't have that, we don't really have anything. Trust me.
Peace.
[edited because I wanted to change the salutation for Jesus (als=peace and blessings of God be upon him) and Muhammad (saws=God's peace be on him).]

I am more than happy to say there are many fine, well meaning people that call themselves muslims. And I hear them say that you can't judge Islam by these kinda of examples. Ok, I agree that people do lots of bad things and then falsely claim its their religion. But where are the muslims standing up to denounce this? To put an end to it? They are silent. They either believe its right, or they are cowards. Either way, they are culpable.
~Michelle_Rox~ - July 21, 2009 08:47 PM (GMT)
Religion is just an excuse for people to hate and discrimanate against others and use their beliefes as ways to 'justify' their curelty. As far as I am comcerned, life would be so much better if religion didn't exist and we could just live in a world run by love, not hate based on apposing beliefes.

First, could we clarify exactly what it is Muslims need to be denouncing?
If you're referring to things like women being be-headed or beaten and that sort of thing, I can pretty much guarantee that most people of intelligence (I think that includes Muslims...I think, not sure though  ) aren't going to be quiet about that sort of thing. At least that's what the Muslims I keep bumping into tell me, but they're living in a free country where that kind of thing never happens, so what do they know? The women of Iran have found their voice to counter Stupidity now that the government's been sufficiently messed up and they're not about to be shut up. And then of course, there's me, sitting here babbling on and on...and I'm Muslim...so I guess that's one for the team.
OR, If you're referring to things like the various wars playing out overseas, do you mean to ask where are the Muslims standing up to denounce fighting against invaders and...people who don't like them and stuff? I'm confused down here in La La Land. :(
Anyway, I actually feel the need to apologize for my last post, everybody. I have nothing to do today and usually when that happens, I either write stories or long forum posts that nobody reads. :P Let the beat go on.
Peace.
[edited to add] And oh, I wanted to cite, if it's OK, Michelle's having once in the far flung past dated a Muslim guy but cutting it off because he tried to get her into a scarf. I apologize in advance for saying this, but Michelle has a lot of Muslim qualities. She's strong, she's honest, she's intelligent and strives to keep herself intelligent, she is focused, she is spiritual, kind and doesn't seem to have a lot of qualms about things and she's got common sense. She didn't let the guy control her or suppress her mind by making her do something she didn't want to do. Robert, you talk about Muslims who don't stand up and condemn bad things. Well, Michelle got herself out of a potentially bad, abusive situation if the guy happened to be one of those Muslim men who thinks he's the incarnation of God. She stood up for herself. A lot of Muslim women don't have that courage, but then again a lot of them do. I do, though wish ALL Muslims could be like that without worrying about what people think about them.

This thread pretty much puts her prophet on the same level with a criminal and judges people based on their religion. That could be called discrimination. It's her right to ask for some respect...

^ Yeah, I know where you're coming from :) . I was more referring to the original thread as a whole. Just like we want 'them' to differentiate when they're judging 'the western countries' we should not generalise either by turning a whole religion into the mother-of-all-evil and with that respect a religion itself if not always the way some interpret it.

Dude, I love you right now.
As far as I am concerned, I will respect other people beliefes AS LONG AS they can respect the fact that I don't believe in God and I think its all a load of crap.
They only time I will ever get disrespectful of a religion is if they start slamming me for not believing or if they try and shove their beliefes down my throut.
OR, my biggest thing, if they start bashing me for being gay. THATS the main reason I don't believe in God.

Well yeah but you just disrespected it right now by calling it a load of crap, lol. Language is a powerful thing. I always suggest to people to be careful how you use it unless you want to be misunderstood. I've learned that the hard way and pissed off plenty of people by being hypocritical in my methods of communication in the past. So just wanted to point that out. You can avoid conflict by just saying "I don't believe in God or religion." instead of "It's a load of crap!" The alteration of vocabulary can make or break effective communication of opinions, and therefore understanding and unity. Just wanted to point that out. ;)
