Ok so who saw it and how much did it suck (if at all)? From the previews and reviews I'm getting the feeling that it's one of the worst films in a LONG time. And yet it's BANKING and on the way to breaking records....of course.

You know, I understand the whole "It's supposed to be mindless fun, so don't over judge it." mentality. I think that about a lot of films. But sometimes, it's just NOT fun. Sometimes it's just overkill. And while I haven't seen it, that's the vibe I'm getting from what I have seen of it. That it's filled with cliches, stereotypes, unfunny humor, tit and ass, and mindless action that's not even enjoyable mindless action. Audiences have lowered their standards and I get the feeling this film exploits that to the fullest....and does so for a never ending two and a half hours.

Yeah, we all know the CG is amazing. Great, but the film itself....? Who saw it and what's the verdict?

I saw it and i thought it was ok. There were cheesy parts ( and megan fox cant act to save her life) it was really funny and entertaining however.

i f-cking LOVED it . I don't understand the hate. my cousin and i left smiling out of the theater. I read the reviews and people talking sh-t about it but while i was watching it i was like what the f-ck are they complaining about. it had action, humor and etc. I agree with the to long part but other then that it's good Flick. The acting was good. Megan fox improved from the first one. This movie just hilarious.

I saw Twice already.

Ps. Shia and Megan are HAWT

Megan Fox ruined my childhood memories in the first one, not sure I can stomach it a second time but I am curious to see what they've done.

I've been reading the same shit about this movie. I wanted to really see it until my cousin told me that she heard on the radio that it was horrible. I thought she was joking at first, then I went on the net and read, like, five bad reviews on it. The only positive comment was about the action and everything else was just...well, bad. Some of my friends seen it and came back all excited, ike, "Oh, man Transformers 2 was hot! Mikey you should go see it!". When I told them that I read that it was just a real bad cheesy action flick, they flipped out on me. But, on the bright side I saved ten bucks...so thank you to all those movie critics out there who helped me change my mind.

Well apparently not many people listened to the bad reviews because it made $112 million freaking bucks at the box office this weekend. Insanity!

TELL ME. The first one was banal, a bit racist and very very long. I tried to turn my mind off and accept it as eye candy, I really did, but every minute was excruciating! Not eager to do that again.

The failbox office measures the quality of a film about as well as a drunk measures his next glass of 80 Proof. I really don't even care anymore, at any rate, they ain't getting MY monies.

^Same here.

There's been a lot of times in the past that I've disagreed with critics, but lately I find them to be pretty spot on. In the past, I think critics were too picky and judgmental on films that may not have been perfect but were still quality and enjoyable. But now, with all the GARBAGE being put out by the big studios, I wouldn't be surprised if critics are looking back on movies they once gave poor reviews to and saying "Wow, that was perfection compared to the crap today." I just see such a declined in quality in Hollywood, and I think critics are noticing the same.

I like mindless flicks quite often, don't get me wrong. Pure actiony fun is fantastic. But 2.5 hours of noise ain't my thing. Explosions isn't action. Loudness isn't drama. Chicks in low cut clothing running in slo-mo ain't hot to me b/c I'm not a dude. A little 12-year old boy toilet humor is fun in doses, but not throughout an entire film that's not even supposed to be a comedy in the first place. I feel like that's what Transformers 2 is, so I probably won't be seeing it. I refuse to be one of those people who tells Hollywood that this is entertainment by giving them my money. Given this record-breaking box office take though, you can be sure that they will do whatever it takes to make sure a 3rd film gets made, and made fast. Quality means nothing. Money is everything.

I know I'M saying that, LOL.

I was watching Minority Report the other day and it occured to me that it might probably be the last really fantastic and well planned science fiction film of the 21st century. I really haven't seen anything that comes on par with the quality of writing and acting in that specific genre. Maybe Avatar will shake things up a bit, but honestly I'm not holding my breath. Like you said, Hollywood quality has gone down...perhaps it's in part because filmmakers have become so dependent on visual effects and hot chicks to draw crowds to theaters. General audiences aren't surprised by VFX anymore, and they've been taught to think lots of explosions and naked women is real entertainment. So producers and writers pander to the monster they've created, thus, Transformers and all it's ilk.

So now folks like me look back and think something like The Black Hole or Ant People is high film art. :P

The first Transformers movie was really good and people liked it, which is obviously why a second one was made. The fact that the first one was such a success, I think, is the reason why people went to go see the movie. If everyone listens to what movies critics say then I don't think that much people would have went to see the film in the first place. I mean, it made that much money in one weekend, so I highly doubt people took the time to listen to the bad reviews first then go see the movie.

Just like 'Fast and Furious', I went to go see the movie first thing, and the movie critics didn't even come across my mind. Why? Simply because I was a fan and I knew the first one was really good. So I expect the same, and go see it opening weekend. That is what fans of Transformers did, in my opinion anyway. I haven't seen the movie yet, but I still plan to. Everyone I knew said that they LOVED it, and I find it odd that the only people that didn't are the critics. So I'd like to see for myself. For me, it's not about just supporting the movie, it's about supporting the people who are in it anyway. Minus Megan Fox, I like the cast. lol.

I saw it and thought it was waaaay better than the first one. The fight scenes actually looked choreographed by a martial artist. You could actually figure out what the bots were trying to do. It had a lot of funny lines and/or situations. As far as people complaining about the plot......WTF.....its sentient robots from space that have tried to colonize earth for millenia.....you expect it to be realistic???

As far as Megan Fox goes...Leigh, take a guy with you....he'll think you're hella cool for letting him drool for 2 hours. lawl

BigDreamer1603 - July 6, 2009 03:02 PM (GMT)
^ HAHAHA.....You guys see?! Someone else that's not a critic and loved the movie. I'm really beginning to think these reviews are from critics who might as well be old foggies and are not in tune with what our generation wants and is used to seeing. Doesn't mean that their opinion doesn't matter, but I'm just sayin'....

pitdroid3 - July 6, 2009 03:25 PM (GMT)
I saw it and loved it.

Now, as someone who saw the cartoon as a kid, and has had to suffer through some horrible movies (F & F anyone?), I did have some problems with it. Some of the new autobots were stupid (the twins are really racist stereotypes) and there are a few dumb jokes.

...anyway, I had a really good time. The action was intense, the plot made sense, they didn't kill off any characters I paid to see. Sometimes it's okay to go to a movie and not have it radically change your life with how enlightening and awesome it was. Sometimes it's okay for it just to be big dumb fun.

BigDreamer1603 - July 6, 2009 03:52 PM (GMT)
You know, I keep hearing the same things about the twin robots. Was the racism in it really that stereotypical? If you don't mind me asking. What did they do?

emz - July 13, 2009 06:42 PM (GMT)
I really like it. I was obsessed with the first one so i was never not going to go and see this. It was a bit OTT and cheesy at parts but none the less i loved it, and i sat grinning like a 5 year old little boy on all 3 times of seeing it B)

I don't remember a lot of specific quotes (was trying not to commit to memory), but a lot of their lines went something like...

Twin 1: Wassat you want massa Optimus?
Twin 2: Is that jive turkey Megatron back?
Optimus: Uhm, yes?
Twin 1: That fool don't know when to call it a day! Want us to go pop a energon cap in his nasty-ol ass?
Twin 2: Yeah, what he said!
Optimus: ....yeah okay, he's two blocks down that way...
Twin 1: You mean right by the KFC? Dang Optimus, you sure know hot to treat a brother right!

;) Basically, just imagine a giant robot doing the "blackface" routine.

Dude, Megan Fox.....

*drools*

The only good thing about that movie. lol

Seriously though, it wasn't as good as the first one. I give it a 7 out of 10.

Hah, I know the feeling! :D
I loved the film! Haven't seen so much non-stop action in while, if ever even. The cheesy bits in between weren't necessary but still a very nice piece of entertainment overall B) ...
