Title: Law of Attraction

maria - May 24, 2008 11:31 PM (GMT)
hey guys!

Iīve just seen that the secretīs website is one of Michelleīs recommended links and .. well, i just like philosophy u know? And i was wondering what is Michelleīs opinion about all the Law of Attraction stuff. If anyone could tell me.. maybe Leigh or someone who knows about it.

Cheers,

Maria :)

Leigh - May 25, 2008 01:32 AM (GMT)
It works! No but seriously it's something she firmly believes in and practices in her day to day life. Back around fall of 2006 she sent me the DVD out of the blue and it literally changed my life at a time it needed changing, or least my perspective on life anyway. I'd never even heard of it before that (it was before Oprah got wind of it and put it on the map). I was just blown away. If you can get past the hokey-vibe of the film itself and absorb the teachings and utilize them fully, it will completely alter and improve what you put out, and therefore what you get back. Here, if this helps you, this is something she once said to me that's along the lines of what The Secret is all about promoting:

"Like my buddy Osho says you don't become something, its already there you just have to wake up to it, be it, come to it."

We believe the law of attraction is one of the tools to do so. I'd definitely recommend checking out The Secret, as would she obviously. And if you find yourself slipping awhile after watching it, watch it again. It will help keep you on track.

Um...what is the Law of Attraction?

Leigh - May 25, 2008 09:26 PM (GMT)
Basically it's....what you put out, you get back. It's the theory that you attract all things in your life, both positive and negative. Kinda like karma if you will, except that it's all about realizing that you are putting out energy into the universe all the time. The trick is if you can change your way of thinking and always be, emit, believe, and see positivity....you will begin to see a shift in your life where what you want begins to come to fruition.

Sort of along the lines of "Be the change you want to see." Say you're pulling into the mall and thinking "Ugh, look at all these people we'll never find a parking space." Odds are, you won't. You'll be circling for ages. On the other hand if you apply the law of attraction, you pull in and see the people and think and speak positively, you just might find surprisingly awesome results. It's all about waking up and realizing the power your thoughts and words have. It's all about realizing that majority of things in your life, even the negative, you have attracted in some way. So if you can flip that around, you can see amazing results.

In summary, own all that you've brought into your life. It's your's, whether good or bad. Claim it, deal with it....and most importantly, start to make the conscious effort to begin to bring good things into your life via your thoughts, words, and energy....and you may be surprised at the results.

Iīve just seen The Secret. Awesome!

I think we all know that about positivism but just forget it, so the secret reminds us how much we can do, how poweful our mind is.

Many thanks for Michelleīs quote and of course for your time!

Maria, what website are you looking at?

I agree with 'The Law of Attraction' and believe in karma.....to an extent, but i think theirs a side to be questioned.

If you give out negative thoughts/feelings against someone/something then you will recieve 'bad karma' and the same goes for giving out 'good karma,' you will recieve good back.

But if everything we do/act in life has repracusions and becomes our fate. What do you say to someone who was beaten by their father or raped?

I think its quite hard to answer. I agree with this though,

There's the catch on the karma front, I once asked someone the same thing and they claim that for me to even ask that meant I didn't understand the true meaning of karma then.

I didn't mean to confuse anybody with reference to karma and making them think that's what The Secret/Law of Attraction is all about. Law of attraction utilizes a lot of principles similar to karma, but it is a bit different. Karma is more about your outwordly words and actions in relation to the whole "what goes around comes around" concept. The law of attraction however is more about energies, thought-processes, and perspectives which can be utilized for your benefit....or detriment. The Secret merely teaches you how to be aware of and choose wisely between the two.

Loved The Secret. Read the book, got the DVD sent to me by a friend too. We had this one lunch together where all we did was talk about it. Very refreshing. It's something to definitely check out.

Not that I have any knowledge of "The Secret", or "The Laws Of Attraction"...

But, in regards to Karma...

It's actually, rather easy to answer your concerns...

Robin Williams made mention of it in the movie; "Dead Again"...

"Buy now...Pay forever..."

Karma is an eternal process...Don't think that it completely has anything to do with this life, alone...

do you believe in hell then? what if someone did something but they werent in a good state of mind? i belive in karma to an extent but there's a part i can't help but question.

maria - May 26, 2008 09:26 PM (GMT)
I just think karma and thoughts are different things. This has nothing to do with actions and feedbacks, itīs just about positivism. Our mind is supposed to be powerful but we dont use it thoroughly! thatīs the thing..

Lost angel, the website is thesecret.tv you can also watch it on youtube

Enjoy it!

P.S. Didn't mean to get people going on karma. It was just an analogy that apparently went terribly wrong, lol. But hey any discussion is good discussion. ;)

Hey; I think this is an important topic...People's beliefs...Kind of makes me wish Michelle would jump in...Love to hear her thoughts...

i jus got done watching zeitgeist  now i have to search for "the secret"...

oh have you ever watched what the bleep do we know??? crazy stuff
quantum physics

what the bleep do we know? intro

the closer you get to the meaning, the sooner you know your dreaming

QuantumP7 - May 28, 2008 07:24 AM (GMT)
I've seen "What the Bleep Do We Know?"

I look up to Marlee Matlin. She has done so much for the deaf and hearing impaired. I couldn't make it to the end of the movie, though. I hate it when people try to apply quantum mechanics to the macroscopic world. And for some reason, when people think of metaphysics, they think of quantum mechanics, too.

People, if quantum mechanics could be applied to the macroscopic world, we'd be able to walk through walls.

Quantum Mechanics = subatomic physics

Newtonian Mechanics = everyday physics

Relativity = astronomical distances and fast speeds.

For goodness' SAKE, people, do NOT invoke quantum mechanics when discussing philosophy. Yes, it is a departure from the everyday physics you learn in grade school. But, no, none of it applies to anything besides subatomic physics.

Sorry for the rant. That stuff drives me insane.

Nugs - May 28, 2008 08:16 AM (GMT)
yeah they kinda go off in some parts  but it does make you think about it for a minute :brow:

tell you the truth i didn't even make it to the end.... but good food for thought :micro:

wasn't she on dancing w/ the stars? never saw got to see her dance though; shes pretty hot ;)

maria - May 28, 2008 09:09 PM (GMT)
I want to watch it( what the bleep do we know?"), but i need subtitles in english or spanish, it doesnt matter, but without subtitles it is impossible to me. My english sucks, man!

anybody knows where can i download or watch it with subtitles?

pips24 - May 29, 2008 03:12 PM (GMT)
I think positivism is great but let's be real...Law of Attraction or The Secret what's new about that? Almost every religion preaches the same things. It's just easier to "steal" concepts from christianity, budhism, islam mix it with old philosophical theories, give it a new name and spend tons in publicity building all this hype over something that is really nothing more than common sense.

I have nothing against people looking for answers wherever they want but it bothers me when i see the ones behind it taking advantage of people who are lost or in need of something real. I just think this isn't any different from a religious movement but is being "sold" as a big new revelation, bashing religion and beliefs on the way in the name of business.

Leigh - May 29, 2008 10:49 PM (GMT)
I hear ya, but The Secret actually gets into the fact that it's NOT a new concept, just one people need to wake up to if they weren't already aware of it.

Ironically The Secret wasn't well known awhile back. In fact, it was a hard to find really obscure DVD actually, but then Oprah discovers it and suddenly there's a website for it, it's on the Amazon home page, and everybody is making a million copycat films, books, etc. It's pretty funny. And rather pathetic. What was once a simple "Here is a tool to help you look inside yourself and use your energies to your advantage and utilize the ancient teachings of the greatest spiritual leaders and you will achieve your dreams...." has now become a sort of "Buy me and you'll think you're way into winning the lotto!" Now THAT is frustrating, yes.

But still, some people have to start somewhere. Some people are too surface-level or simply too busy to go to the bookstore and hit the religion, philosophy, etc sections and adopt new ways of thinking to improve their life....so if they can change their negative mindsets just from watching a DVD pimped by Oprah, then I say more power to 'em. Positivity is positive, however it is achieved. The only sad thing is when the copycat creators then start taking advantage and you've got late night infomercials pimping $200 "Think your way to riches!" cd-rom sets.

There's this old joke/saying, goes something like:

Kid: Dad, is there really a Heaven?
Dad: Yes son.
Kid: Then, is there really a Hell too?
Dad: Probably.
Kid: But why? If God forgives everything we do, then why is there a Hell?
Dad:Well, if God is really forgiving, there's probably nobody in it. ;)

I agree with you. If this will change peoples lives for the better then by all means...
But it's also true that anything or anyone that promises you a life change has to be taken with a grain of salt.

I'm a little behind. I've yet to see The Secret Dvd or read the book, although I've heard alot about it. I had a customer of mine who was reading it at the bar and was just raving about it and recommending it, so...I've meant to check it out but have been too busy.

In general though, I am a fan of solving problems or finding answers with common sense, so..I dunno...

For example, and I'll use the fitness world as an example, as I used to be studying to be a personal trainer. So many people depend on these fitness supplements and nonsense starvation/extreme diets (aka atkins, southbeach) ....Sorry. But honestly, as a levelheaded person w/ added knowledge in the fitness world, please just use common sense. It will save you LOADS of money, energy, and stress. The solution is simple. Watch what you eat...and work out. Woah! Who woulda thought! LOL

No but seriously, my motto is "everything in moderation". This is the fitness world. I have yet to discover this about the philosophical part of life but I assume it to be similar. Use your head. Basically. But The Secret has always sounded intriguing. I should check it out. I just don't like extremism in anything.

Exactly! Sure, some people have medical issues, slower metabolisms, etc which make it more difficult to lose/maintain weight but at the end of the day, just listening to your own body and being logical about how you treat it is the simplest way to live.

Same could be applied to your mental and emotional health, and honestly I view the philosophies found in The Secret and some similar religious teachings to be rather logical and common-sensical as well to some degree.

No but seriously, my motto is "everything in moderation".

Maybe my minds f*cked up in saying this, but i think some people choose the hard way simply because they want to. Speaking from expierence, sometimes choosing an easy way, whether it be Diet or, The Law of Attraction, doesnt seem like a real option, it cant be that easy to live life any easier, their has to be a catch. Ive starved myself when everyones told me the best thing todo is eat in moderation.Ya just dont listen when your minds forced yourself to believe what you want it to believe, even ifa part of you knows its wrong

yeah it is a very interesting theory and I didn't know that michelle was into this but i agreed that this law it's nothing new ! okay, what is the law of attraction ?

Quote
((((((((((((What is the law of attraction? Simply put, the law of attraction states that “Like attracts like.” What this universal law tells you about your own life is that the thoughts you think, feelings you feel, words you say, and actions you take all consist of energy that attracts to it more of its own kind. That is, negative energies attract negative energies, and positive energies attract positive energies.)))))))))))))

most of us can not control how we think, feel and behave no matter how hard we try, right ? no,no,no ray that is sofa king wrong ! is it ? moving on !! WOOHOO...

If this "LAW" can help people become more confident about them selfs and find some level of happynes in their own lives ,well I think that is a great thing ! don't you agreed ? ..and my self ? well I whish i could say that I want to read more about this LAW ! but who knows maybe oneday !

InnerStrength_ - August 29, 2008 03:55 AM (GMT)
I watched the secret on Halloween of last year. I plan on watching it again soon. It really got me thinking, and changed my general perspective on a lot of stuff. I really think it can work. Poeple who constantly think negatively honestly do experience worse outcomes in their everyday sitations. That's why I've been trying to see light in every possible situation.
