She walked into the small room hesitantly, looking more nervous than he'd ever seen her. She didn't even look up, just followed the guard over to the cubicle where he was waiting.
She slumped into the chair, leaning on the small counter. Picked imaginary pieces of lint off of her shirt and brushed her hair out of her face before finally looking at him.
"Hey," she said, fidgeting on the edge of the metal stool.
"Hey," he replied, his voice deep and slightly scratchy.
It was the first time she'd come to visit, the first time they'd seen each other in nearly two years. There'd been letters back and forth, and a few phone calls... But seeing her was different. He noticed the physical changes right away. Her hair was longer, curling past her shoulders. She'd grown up. Even at fifteen, during his trial, she'd looked like a little girl. Now, he had to fight to keep himself from staring at her tits, wondering if she'd realized how tight that sweater was when she'd put it on.
"It doesn't turn," she said, laughing softly.
"What?" he asked, jerking his eyes back up to her face, trying to figure out what the fuck she was talking about.
"The stool..." she explained slowly. "It doesn't turn. Somehow I thought it would..."
"Oh," he muttered, not quite knowing what to say.
"I was gonna..." she started after a few minutes.
"Did you..." he began.
"...tell you that Mia got..." she continued.
"Huh, what?" he asked as he realized that she was trying to say something too.
"...the house decorated and all..." she finished, realizing they'd been talking over each other.
"Go ahead, I can wait..." he laughed.
"I...uh..." she said, looking down at her hands. "I was gonna tell you that Mia got the house decorated and all. Vince and I helped pick out the tree, put the lights on. A real one, this year. She insisted. And we're gonna leave it up...till, you know. Till you get to come home. Shouldn't be too much longer, right?"
"About another month," he said, nodding. "The tree'll probably be dead by then..."
"Yeah, I know," she replied. "But you know how Mia is when she gets an idea into her head."
"Just as long as she doesn't make you vacuum up all the pine needles, right?" he asked, grinning back at her.
"Exactly!" she laughed.
Her eyes lit up, and for a few seconds, he almost forgot where they were. He could almost pretend that they were back at his dad's garage, working on cars. Back when she tried everything she could to do to get his attention, and he would just pretend to be annoyed with her.
He still hadn't told her how he felt. He wasn't even really sure when he'd realized it. Maybe some part of him had always known, always felt that they were meant for each other. Somehow, though, during the two years he'd been away from her, he'd figured it out...he couldn't live without her.
"Well?" she asked, leaning closer to the glass.
"What?" he said, trying to remember what they'd been talking about.
"I swear..." she sighed, rolling her eyes. "Were you even listening?"
He hadn't been, but he knew better than to admit it.
"You were gonna say something earlier..." she started. "What was it?"
"Oh," he sighed, suddenly a little nervous. "Did Mia give it to you?"
"Yeah," she answered, pulling a small wrapped box out of her coat pocket. "She said I had to bring it with me today...what's in it?"
"It's your Christmas present..."
"How did you...?" she asked, staring at him for a minute before continuing. "Dom, you didn't have to get me anything!"
"Well...it's something I've had for a while now. And it means a lot to me...and well...you mean a lot to me... So I wanted you to have it," he stammered out. "So I got Mia to wrap it up for me."
"Wow," she said, looking back and forth from the package to him. "I can't believe you went to so much trouble over me! You didn't have to, you know... You could've waited till you got out to give this to me..."
"Yeah," he sighed. "Yeah, I could have. But I know how Christmas is around your place, and I wanted to do something to make it better for you this year."
"Shit," she laughed, her voice echoing through the small room. "Yeah, dad's already hittin' the eggnog...like he's ever sober to begin with. And mom just kinda cowers in the corner, making excuses for him like she always does, acting like it's our fault he's such an asshole. I've been...well, I've been spending a lot of time over at your place with Mia and Vince lately."
"I know," he said quietly, nodding. "She told me, last time I talked to her."
"I swear," she muttered, "the second I turn eighteen, I'm moving out."
"Yeah," was all he said.
He had a plan to get her out sooner, but he didn't want to say anything about it yet. It was pretty crazy...getting married just so she'd be able to get away from her parents.
"So, uh...you gonna open that, or what?" he asked, trying to change the subject.
"Oh! Yeah..." she said, remembering the small box in her hands.
She fumbled with it for a minute, her hands almost shaking. Finally, the paper fell to the floor and she lifted the top off of the box.
"Dom..." she said slowly, "is this... Is this what I think it is?"
"Depends on what you're thinking," he said, grinning at the expression on her face.
"Antonio Dominic Toretto..." she breathed slowly as she lifted it out of the box.
"So you like it?" he asked, wishing he could actually touch her.
"Like it? I love it!" she exclaimed. "Damn...I remember this! Your dad used to wear this all the time...I don't think I ever saw him with it not on."
"Yeah," he nodded. "We thought about burying it with him, but then I decided I wanted to keep it...to remember him."
"I...I don't know if I can take this..." she said slowly, looking up at him. "Are you sure you want to give me this? Really sure?"
"Yeah," he laughed. "Can't think of anyone else I'd rather give it to. And I knew how much it'd mean to you."
"Yeah," she sighed, rubbing a hand across her mouth. He thought she might even be starting to cry. "God, Dom... It's just...your dad! And you know...shit, you know what it's like at my place... D'you know how many times I wished he was really my dad? And he was so good to me...treated me like I was his own kid... This is just... Why are you giving me this, Dom? Why?"
She looked at him again and he could see that she was crying, tears streaming down her face, shoulders heaving, hiccupping as she gasped for breath.
"Shhh...hush, baby, it's okay..." he murmured, trying to calm her down and cursing himself for deciding to do this here, now. "I love you...that's why. I love you, and my dad loved you, and I know he would want you to have this. He would be so happy to see us together...I know he always wanted that."
"What do you want, Dom?" she asked, roughly wiping away her tears, the chain clutched in her hand scraping her face. "What do you want???"
"You," he whispered, pressing his hand against he glass, tracing the curves of her face like he was actually touching her skin. "All I want is you, Letty."
She smiled then - really smiled - and pulled the chain over her neck. The dog tags clinked against each other before settling into the hollow between her breasts, and his attention was drawn back to her chest.
This time she noticed.
"Well..." she laughed, leaning forward. "You'll have to wait till you get out for your present..."
"Oh really?" he growled. "That a promise?"
"Have to wait..." she started, only to be interrupted by the guard.
"Excuse me, ma'am," he said. "Visiting hours are over, you'll have to go now."
"Oh..." she said, standing up. "I uhm...well...thank you, Dommy. I...I love you."
He sat there and watched her walking away until the guard came up behind him.
"C'mon Toretto," Diego said, his voice not quite as harsh as normal. "Time to go."

"All I Want for Christmas Is You"
Performed by Mariah Carey
From the album Merry Christmas.
I don't want a lot for Christmas
There's just one thing I need
I don't care about presents
Underneath the Christmas tree
I just want you for my own
More than you could ever know
Make my wish come true...
All I want for Christmas
Is you...
I don't want a lot for Christmas
There is just one thing I need
I don't care about presents
Underneath the Christmas tree
I don't need to hang my stocking
There upon the fireplace
Santa Claus won't make me happy
With a toy on Christmas day
I just want you for my own
More than you could ever know
Make my wish come true
All I want for Christmas is you...
You baby
I won't ask for much this Christmas
I won't even wish for snow
I'm just gonna keep on waiting
Underneath the mistletoe
I won't make a list and send it
To the North Pole for Saint Nick
I won't even stay awake to
Hear those magic reindeer click
'Cause I just want you here tonight
Holding on to me so tight
What more can I do
Baby all I want for Christmas is you
You...
All the lights are shining
So brightly everywhere
And the sound of children's
Laughter fills the air
And everyone is singing
I hear those sleigh bells ringing
Santa won't you bring me the one I really need -
won't you please bring my baby to me...
Oh I don't want a lot for Christmas
This is all I'm asking for
I just want to see baby
Standing right outside my door
Oh I just want him for my own
More than you could ever know
Make my wish come true
Baby all I want for Christmas is
You...
All I want for Christmas is you baby... (repeat)
I 'member this.
Sweet. Nice read.
I remember this
It's sweet
