Just got done watching it and I must say, it was a lot better than I thought it would be. I like Michelle's character a lot in this movie, very realistic (and something I can relate to, although I don't start fights in school...) Loved it! Have you guys seen it?

Leigh - February 17, 2006 01:45 AM (GMT)
Cha.

LOL, seriouslythough, it's the best movie she's been in and her best performance ever (except in Lost's ep "Collision")!

Glad you saw it!!!

:)

I was thinking about renting it, but then I saw it at Slackers for $6, so I really couldn't pass that up... Glad I didn't because it's a great movie! xD

Black Angel Sam - February 17, 2006 06:05 PM (GMT)
It is my fav, because that Film prove, how Michelle changed. She is in Girlfight so inexperienced and... new ;)
She learn in every other Movie more and more about the `Work` and that is great to watch. How she learn and learn :D

annie_mexiban - February 18, 2006 03:46 AM (GMT)
It's like an evolution we see her in she's still growing into something bigger and better...
Way to go chica!

Soldier_Rain - March 5, 2006 01:04 PM (GMT)
YEAP!!....me went out and bought it, i knew it would be good..for 2 reasons..
1. MICHELLE!!.. :D
and
2. Boxing... :P (is a boxer thanks to this inspiring movie)
Yeap absolutely LOVED  this one, everything about it was great and Dianna reminded me of me as well!... :ph43r: Weird hey?.. ;) .....
but yeh, i cant see why anyone WOULDNT like this movie can any of you?

LaurenPenetration - June 12, 2006 04:01 AM (GMT)
In the end did Adrian and Diana break up or what? It confuses me everytime I see it.

doublell20 - June 12, 2006 05:01 AM (GMT)
i think that's part of the beauty of the film....?

i think that the answer is kinda left up to the audience to decide.

i just watched that film again tonight, too, and i'm not convinced that that was a happy ending...or more precisely like they would live happily ever after...ya know?

great movie...her best - so far!!!

ll

Robert - June 12, 2006 05:07 AM (GMT)
No. They broke up. Diana moved out west, changed her name, and took up street racing. She's currently in Mexico. Adrian....hmm.

Skayla - June 12, 2006 06:09 AM (GMT)
haha! nice one.

AFerrel - June 12, 2006 06:12 AM (GMT)
Funny to me in the end of Girlfight I always thought in my head that they did break up.She made it as a boxer Adrian didn't he was jealous of her abilities as a boxer.

In my opinion it was like Adrian made her choose between her love for him or her love of the sport. When she's crying in the locker room after the fight by herself. That was like her moment where she disocvers what her decision was and is.

I don't know am I crazy have I lost my mind???

A

Skayla - June 12, 2006 06:14 AM (GMT)
but then dont they kiss and hes all fine with her winning or something?

where did you get that from?lol

oh and yeah that was part of the ending if you have the dvd and listen to trhe commentary karyn(director)was like it was supposed to be a mysterious ending , but it pisses me off evry tme i see it too , I am like WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?do they have like little babies or something?

LaurenPenetration - June 12, 2006 09:13 PM (GMT)
The part where she was crying in the locker room was like the best scene I have ever seen her do in any of her movies. It was just like so touching.

allaboutangel - June 12, 2006 09:55 PM (GMT)
Because its left open-ended its up to each viewers imagination whether they went on to have a stronger relationship and the whole nine yards, or if this broke their relationship and theres no way it would work.

Im with those who think that they ultimately broke up.

They probably tried to make it work, but eventually came to realise it wouldnt. Like Anna said, Adrian was jealous that Diana surpassed him with talent at boxing. It was something he wanted to do to give him a means to escape his crappy life. But she came in last minute, overtook him in a short time, and won the competition. God knows if Diana went on to continue boxing professionally or not (Id think she would after investing so much in it), but I cant imagine Adrian being all giddy and pleased for her after every win, knowing he couldnt cut it.

His jealousy, plus a mixture of Diana's insecurities and his roving eye would have made for a difficult relationship. I mean he didnt exactly prove himself to be a one-girl man throughout the film. Yea he dumped the other girl, but only to suit his end. I think he woulda ended up cheating on Diana. And she was insecure about herself. Not so much on the inside, but definately on the outside. The way she say to Adrian, proving you could still snag the pretty girl, implies she doesnt think shes pretty.

So a mixture of all that wouldnt make for an easy life.

The locker room scene is one scene im always directing people to if they even start in on that sh*te that Michelle cant act. That scene alone, even if it was the only ever thing you'd ever seen her do, proves she *can* and does act her socks off! Anyone who believes Michelle doesnt have raw talent after seeing Girlfight is slightly deluded! Especially so because this was her first acting job, like properly rather than as an extra. This was the real deal. And she carried the whole goddamn thing.

Yea, It's confused me too........I've watched a million times and I just can't seem to figure it out

Fionnseach - June 18, 2006 07:08 AM (GMT)
I love open-ended movies. They can be a bit frustrating on one level, but they always feel way more satisfying to me on another.

playdogurl - June 23, 2006 08:57 AM (GMT)
yea.. the ending was kinda confusing

AnaLuciaCortezLives - July 2, 2006 07:24 PM (GMT)
Okay, this isn't Margarita this is her cousin Christina, so, anything I say should not in anyway be taken out on her. I'm just checking up on the Michelle information for her while she's in Mexico taking care of our grandmother. But on to why I posted this, I saw that Girlfight was going to be on today, on UPN and i thought you guys would take an intrest in that fact, so, there you go.

Umm...about her fanfic, it should be updated either Monday or Tuesday of this week, when she returns.

dunno if this is relevant or not, but at the end, i thouhgt, after they kiss and hug, at the very end, it zooms into her face and her balck eye grows. like the black patch becomes larger and darker. *shrug*

Fionnseach - September 24, 2006 03:27 PM (GMT)

HAHA, LMAO. You missed the part where she was attacked by mutan killer dogs. This reminds me of the American Express commercial with Kate Winslet actually.

Leigh - September 26, 2006 02:24 AM (GMT)
^I LOVE that commercial! I simply adore Kate Winslet and I love the music and subtleness of the whole thing. It's very....peacful, yet moving....which is weird since it's about a credit card. :brow:

Leigh I agree, that commercial is very well done. It grabs me everytime, and Kate's accent is superb, I love it! She's awesome.

LOL  , allaboutangel, but i'm serious, i've watched it multiple times on the dvd i rented. the scene goes on then stops as if it's the end, but it zooms in her face. the angle doesn't change so it shouldn't be the light. i think it makes the ending dark, or shows some underlying sadness for the future or just within the story.

allaboutangel - September 27, 2006 10:10 PM (GMT)
i dunno what commercial ur talking about with Kate Winslet in it :( . maybe its only airing in america...

i like Kate. she's awesome. very sincere young woman and a very talented young woman :)

Alecha - if you say so....

nah, ur prob right, i dunno, its been too long since i sat down to watch GF. thats something to do this w/e :brow:

that, or its just fade to black and u really are losing it :P lol

It's so damn good. I mean it's a small independent project with a tiny budget and unknown actors (at the time), people shouldn't expect big thrills or huge excitement levels. But the acting is superb and most of all Michelle is just simply awesome in every way. This was her first ever role so that in itself is amazing. You're in for a treat, I assure you.
