Inside set sources tell me that Michelle will be playing a very small part in a new film called "Gardens of the Night" (an indie picture). The film stars John Malkovich and other indie-reputable names and sounds like a nice concept:

Like I said though, this is just a small appearance....a cameo in fact....which she just filmed yesterday. But still, I think it's great. :)

Yep. It's such a small part though....she's in it towards the end I believe. But if small cameos in good quality indie films is what gets her going and gets her some proper recognition in Hollywood's eyes then more power to her. The gritty/real concept actually really appeals to me, so though I normally would wait for DVD for a film where her part is so small....I might actually see this one when it releases.

Indie just means independent....as in basically....it's small and not funded by big ass studios and such. Indie films are usually more artistic and are more about the content and such than big budgets and Hollywood attention.

For instance....Girlfight was an indie film....whereas like, SWAT, was a flashy big budget Hollywood flick.

^Ditto! I loved him as Mercutio in R&J and he was great in the Martix films....but yeah Michael ruined him for me. It's gonna be a hard road back to liking him too, so I hear ya.

Let me first start off by saying YEAH I can't wait to see this film. I am so happy that she is back in the game. I also saw that another one of my favorite actress is going to be in it. I love Peta Wilson not as much as Michelle but she is a close second. I know some of you will dis-agree. I just like her as well she is a very good actress in my book. So I will def. be going to see this when it comes out. Thanks for the heads up Leigh. Can't wait!!!!!

She's just in it at the end, and her role is small...a cameo....like one scene. She doesn't interact with anyone important really (none of the bigger/known actors). It's small....but it's something.

I'm sure she wants to do great leading roles, and if she was offered them she'd be doing them....but she's not getting GOOD stuff, she's getting degrading crap lately....so instead we get two bit cameos. It's not just you, I agree!! If she gets this huge role, and the movie sucks then it will only be worse for Michelle and it will be harder for her to get better and bigger roles in the future, so for now let's be happy with good Michelle cameos, or at least let's hope that the cameos are good!!

The more I read/think about this movie the more it sounds like one of those little indie projects that will have a huge impact. It's dealing with the idea of child slavery/prostitution within the US. That's a controversial thing to cover, let alone focusing on the whole thing via very young actors. Sure, her cameo is small and is near the end of the film....but even still this could be an attention garnering project that sheds light on an important issue in America that people rarely talk about....and that usually gets Oscar-type attention.

Between this cameo and Battle in Seattle I think Michelle is pretty well set up for a renewal of respect for the parts she plays. Thank God!
