Skayla - July 28, 2006 08:51 AM (GMT)
what is it?

Leigh - July 28, 2006 11:14 AM (GMT)
Live-action family filmes about cats....starring cats....with voice-overs by Michelle, Jeremy Piven, Dominic Swain, etc.

L.

Guchi2 - July 28, 2006 05:28 PM (GMT)
are they real cats or is the whole thing cartoon??

chelsey

doublell20 - July 29, 2006 03:37 AM (GMT)
i think that live-action means real cats with voice overs?......kinda like "snowball" in that mouse movie with michael j. fox doing the mouse...can't remember what it was called.

anyway, look forward to this cause i have small kids at home that would like this....and of course it has M.R. in it.

also, not too many weeks till the breed comes out on dvd....looking forward to both of these films.

Stuart Little.

oh.. sounds cute.. i can't imagine her voice on a cat though.. a black cat maybe..

PinkPrincess - July 29, 2006 09:50 AM (GMT)
anything with Michelle in is worth a look!

Does anyone know if this is available in the UK? :brow:

Leigh - July 29, 2006 04:26 PM (GMT)
Yes, it's REAL cats....with actor voice-overs. Kinda like that....Homeward Bound movie (which I LOVED as a kid btw, lol).

Anyway....um....I would THINK it would be at some point, but nothing yet. The thing is barely even getting any attention here and it releases in a few months. Hopefully by Sept./Oct. there'll be some buzz on it. I mean, it obviously wasn't deemed "good enough" to be picked up by a studio for theater release (which is shocking b/c of some of the other crap they pick up family-film-wise)....so then the money spent on marketing may be small....but who knows. *shrugs*

Right now it's just sort of a waiting game for more info to become available.

doublell20 - October 31, 2006 03:26 AM (GMT)
anyone seen any previews or adverts for this release?

it supposedly comes out the same day as CARS and i've seen dozens of promos for that dvd release and nothing for a cat's tale....it's only a week away?!

still no previews or adverts?

~Michelle_Rox~ - November 7, 2006 01:03 AM (GMT)
Thats in.......*counts on fingers* 3 DAYS!!!!!! Yay!!!!! I hope it wont take to long to get in the stores like The Breed is.

junior fan, I'm still what you would call a "kiddo" too. I bet I'm younger than most others on this forum!!

See ya later.......... :kick:

Leigh - November 7, 2006 01:45 AM (GMT)
I think it's a bit more disturbing that the studio releasing it....Melee Entertainment....doesn't even list the damn thing ANYWHERE on their site. Geez.

L.

doublell20 - November 7, 2006 03:25 AM (GMT)
i'll check tomorrow...i've promised the kiddies the dvd of CARS - which comes out tomorrow also - so i'll check for this one, too, and let you all know?!

just checked amazon.com and the release date is actually tomorrow nov 7th.

i was expecting it tomorrow 'cause tuesday's are the release days here where i live...unlikely it would come out here on a thurs....

so i'll check tomorrow for sure!

EDIT
well, checked today...and it's not out and nobody heard of it. one of the websites stated that it was released oct 17,2006.

another said it's on back order as of today and others say it's not released till the 9th....so who knows.

LettyRocks - November 10, 2006 06:19 PM (GMT)
Well, looks like this movie is turning out like The Breed. Lol. No one knows ANYTHING about it or when it will be released! lol.

InMemoriam - November 10, 2006 06:57 PM (GMT)
Pretty picture though. I think it says on the cover that Michelle plays two characters...? I can't read their names though cause it's kinda blurry.

Leigh - November 11, 2006 07:00 PM (GMT)
Well, this is fantastic. Amazon says it's not yet released....my local store do not have iit even in their systems....the ONLY place I found anything that SEEMS like it may have it for purchase is this:

http://www.tlamovies.com/details/product_d...n=1&enable=true

PLEASE NOTE: It doesn't say ANYTHING about a release date, so I don't know if this is just somewhere you can pre-order it like you can at amazon, or if this TLA actually has it. So....I guess I'll take one for the team....and it's costing me $15.49. I hope I get it, lol.

Placed my order. It says it ships to Texas via "Super Shipping" which says it may take between 1 and 4 weeks. Doesn't sound very "super" to me. So I guess, now I wait. I'll let you guys know when I get it.

L.

InMemoriam - November 14, 2006 03:33 PM (GMT)
I was looking for something and I saw (then I started looking for this movie of course) that anywhere I went that actually had a release date said it was gonna be release Nov 17.

I'm not askin any questions and nobody needs to reply cause (Leigh) I know you said you dunno when it's getting released. I just posted what I found.

Leigh - November 14, 2006 04:13 PM (GMT)
Well, I will reply, lol....b/c my order now says "Back Ordered - Expected To Ship Between 11/18/2006 and 11/26/2006". SO I guess the 17th is right. I'm quite pissed though, b/c I don't appreciate Melee Entertainment's marketing rep giving me incorrect info and not informing me that the date had changed.

Oh well....

L.

InMemoriam - November 14, 2006 04:50 PM (GMT)
The sacrifices we Michelle fans have to go through just to see her movies, eh?

Leigh - November 14, 2006 05:21 PM (GMT)
It is kinda annoying, yeah. :P

Haha. Mine either. It took my money right off the bat....THEN two days later I get an email saying it's on backorder and won't withdraw the funds from my account UNTIL it comes in. So now I'm watching my bank like a hawk to make sure the numbnuts don't double charge me. But my bank shows no transaction so I guess their system reversed it out until it comes in. But THAT pisses me off b/c I wanted the money gone....you know, like accounted for already. Oh well.

I still can't believe I even bought this, lol....I mean it's just voice work. But oh well. It claims it's on backorder and takes a week to two weeks to ship. So if it isn't here by the end of this week I think I might have to contact them. Bleh.

L.

Leigh - November 23, 2006 03:06 AM (GMT)
Well, got an email this morning. My order has been "cancelled". It listed 3 possible reasons (but didn't specify which). Basically they just acted like it wasn't available for whatever reason. ()*@#%!

L.

jademerald17 - November 28, 2006 07:00 PM (GMT)
Yeah I just got the same message so I then found it on ebay and a few days later got a message refunding my money saying they couldn't get it to me either. Kind of frustrating.

~Michelle_Rox~ - December 2, 2006 04:28 AM (GMT)
Still no news?

I'm gona go wacko soon......

LettyRocks - December 2, 2006 07:32 AM (GMT)
Let's pray that "Battle" doesn't end up getting "LOST" like The Breed and A Cat's Tale. Lol. ;)

Taliesyn - March 17, 2007 08:16 PM (GMT)
I really hope this Cat's Tale movie will get produced and make it to video stores.

I have high hopes about this movie, not only because it involves Michelle and lots of cats, which are a great start, but because of the effect it could have on people.

When Nemo was released, a ton of people got interested into fish and household aquariums because they had seen an interesting movie which spotlighted fish as interesting living beings.

Some wildlife protectors, such as Steven Irwin, understand the power of media in helping our fury, scally and sometimes just plain weird friends. You can go the punitive route and try to stop people from hurting animals and destryoing the eco-system as a whole, or you can educate them in loving animals. That's why Irwin put his life in danger to let us discover the world of wildlife animals.

And the best way to educate people in loving something is through the beauty of art, or specifically in this case films, because there is an obligation in art. You feel drawn in by the beauty of what is portraited and feel an obligation to love it's object.

By showing cats do cat-ish things, you can give a great experience to some people who don't have much cat experience. Some people don't like animals such as cats because of a single bad experience that happened in their life, so if they see a 90ish minute movie that portraits cats in a good way, they will be more likely to fall in love with our feline friends.

People who expect just an entertaining movie probably won't be disapointed, because such a movie can still provide great entertainment value and still make it's viewer experience the life of a cat for 90 minutes which will make them commune or feel connected to cats more. A documentary can influence the mind, but a good entertainment movie with a hidden agenda can influence the affect of a person, which also shouldn't be neglected.

The person who feels connected to cats and has "lived" vicariously through a cat for 90 minutes won't have to be reminded that it's cruel to do bad things to cats; they'll feel it's bad and that will be enough for most people.

Just like with a good Disney story, the moral always gets remembered best when the narrator doesn't HAVE to SAY to be kind with animals by watching/reading the story.

On the other hand, someone who had a bad experience with sharks probably has little interest in watching "Jaws".

At least until they get to the part where they blow the shark to kingdom come, that might be theraputic for them.

Just kidding, that was an incredibly well-thought out and touching post Taliesyn.

I agree completely. And hey, the best flicks don't even have to be high profile. They just have to be good! And with cats animated or real...you really can't go wrong. ;)

Except for that animated Oliver Twist version that had cats and dogs. Yeesh...depressing. Sweet! But depressing. Actually it's just the whole Oliver Twist thing. Never did like that story.
