annie_mexiban - June 6, 2006 02:14 AM (GMT)

kayleigh - June 6, 2006 08:48 AM (GMT)
i thought michelle was her middle name... when she was booked into jail her first name was mayte and her middle name was michelle. i have no fricking clue how to pronounce it though. but i'm just going to say it like "mate" untill we get confirmation lol.

Fionnseach - June 6, 2006 09:35 AM (GMT)
I've worked with a Spaniard called Mayte and she pronounced it My-tea.

I think it's her original first name too. That's what I've heard anyway.

katheriner12 - June 6, 2006 01:43 PM (GMT)
This Year's Girl I love your banner. I think that Mayte is her first name and again I couldn't tell ya how to say it.

Michelle_4ever - June 6, 2006 04:45 PM (GMT)

Thank you! *grins* I can't take the credit though, a friend made it for me.

junior fan - June 6, 2006 05:18 PM (GMT)
mayte (sp) is her first name michelle is her middle name rodriguez last name

lettyrodriguez01 - June 6, 2006 08:08 PM (GMT)
Yes, indeed Mayte is her first name.

I think it's like a family thing maybe? Like I have a name before the one I 'use' if that makes sense, but it's there because it's a family thing. It happens a lot in Spanish/Latin families. Or maybe she just likes Michelle better lol.

Lexxx,
;)

Yaya - June 6, 2006 10:12 PM (GMT)
Now i know how to pronounce it , ( my -they)

Leigh - June 6, 2006 10:35 PM (GMT)
I read that Mayte is a different version/combo of the names Maria and Teresa. That's kinda cool....combining the names like that. :P

Sin - June 7, 2006 05:22 PM (GMT)
When Michelle was booked in Kailua it was as Mayte Michelle Rodriguez. Also if you search Hawaii State Judiciary traffic records hers is also under Mayte Rodriguez whereas a search for Michelle Rodriguez comes up empty.

Sooooo...her first name is Mayte. I guess either she or Hollywood types decided to go with Michelle for whatever reason, since that's her middle name anyway.

Here's the link to the court search engine if anyone wants to check it out:

katheriner12 - June 8, 2006 02:34 AM (GMT)
Thanks Sin for the link.

Leigh - June 8, 2006 02:36 AM (GMT)
Dayyyyyyyyum. She's got quite the list there.

*snicker*

katheriner12 - June 8, 2006 02:39 AM (GMT)
I notice that too. I don't think her retiring in HA would be such a great idea..

candygirlnj19666 - June 8, 2006 05:28 AM (GMT)

Sin - June 8, 2006 05:48 PM (GMT)

L.

OHH OK so if it is the combo you're talking about I know how to pronounce it cuz those names in the spanish language are said exectly with the same accent in portuguese (they are VERY COMMON names here in portugal) and so it is more or less: My-teh, isn't it?

mogwaid - June 9, 2006 06:18 AM (GMT)

L.

Yeah it happens a lot in Latin families (I'm Spanish), but that's because there are a lot of Maria "whatever" you know? So they combine the two names cause if they didn't there would be a shitload of Marias lol! And also to make the name shorter.

For example:

Maria Teresa - Mayte
Maria del Carmen - Maricarmen or Mayca
Jose Miguel - Josemi
Jose Manuel - Josema
Juan Jose - Juanjo
Juan Miguel - Juanmi
Juan Ramon - Juanra

and a whole lot more!

doublell20 - June 10, 2006 08:57 PM (GMT)
ok so what is it?

like: mae - tee?

my - tae?

Thanks, and yeah I trust you....I'm portuguese and so the accent in saying these names is extremely similar if not equal!!!

kayleigh - June 12, 2006 08:23 PM (GMT)
ok, ONE last question on the pronunciation then i'm giving up 'til someone can actually say it to me. i ask too many questions, i know. is it teh as in "tear a bit of paper" but said quite quickly?

Michelle_4ever - June 12, 2006 08:35 PM (GMT)
I think you just use the E sound on that word but its not quickly said, give it the same lasting as the "My" part of the name ... I am telling it to myself and it sounds right!!

melrod86 - June 13, 2006 10:15 AM (GMT)
it's "teh" like the vowel in "said"

Yep, I know. The verb conjugations are difficult in all languages that come from Latin. I even have troubles sometimes with Spanish verbs (and I'm Spanish LMAO!)
